A Remodel Should Improve Your Home Not Turn You Into a Project Manager

Most home remodeling projects don’t fail because of the construction work itself.

They break down in the same places:

How general contractors in San Diego typically work vs. The HiLite Group Approach

Most traditional general contractors focus on building the project. We focus on managing the entire process- from planning and budgeting through construction and completion so you have fewer surprises, better communication and greater control.

Doing it yourself

Managing your own renovation may seem like a way to save money, but small issues can quickly become expensive delays.

The HiLite Group approach

We provide comprehensive project management that keeps every phase organized, transparent and accountable.

Typical general contractor

Most general contractors are hired to build the project, not manage every aspect of it.

This structure helps reduce mid-project surprises that increase costs, keeps timelines more predictable, and keeps the work aligned with the agreed plan.

Remodeling services built around one managed plan

We help San Diego homeowners plan and complete remodeling projects with clear scope, defined budgets, and coordinated execution from start to finish.

Everything you’re thinking about, answered

Do you offer free estimates for remodeling projects?

We provide a no-obligation project consultation where we walk through your scope, timeline, and budget before any work begins. There is no cost to start the conversation.

Both. We are licensed general contractors in San Diego who operate through a project management model. Instead of marking up subcontractor estimates 20–30% inside one contract, we coordinate your entire project for a flat fee with no markup on subcontractors. Subcontractors bill you directly, so you see exactly what each trade costs.

We coordinate with designers and architects to make sure the design aligns with your budget, timeline, and scope. We do not do the design work ourselves, but we connect you with professionals we trust and manage that relationship as part of your project.

We manage ADU construction projects in San Diego from permits through completion.

Our contractor’s license dates back to 1979, and The HiLite Group was incorporated under that license in 2004. Both owners are currently on the license, and the business is fully insured.

If your project has stalled or needs a new direction, we can step in, assess where things stand, and take over coordination from that point forward.
